In honor of the first-ever "Rugby Week," the American Youth Rugby Union wants you to do a little running around.
On Tuesday, Nov 13 residents of the cities of Mountain View, Los Altos, Cupertino and Sunnyvale can participate in a treasure hunt in Mountain View and potentially win $100.
Members of the public need to solve a cryptic clue that will lead them to the secret hiding place of a gold painted rugby ball. The finder of the "golden ball" wins.
The golden rugby ball also has another treat: it was autographed by Brian McClenahan, a Mountain View native and member of the recent USA Rugby squad who took part in the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand 2012.
Are you ready to give it a "try?" (A try is a goal in rugby-speak!)
There is no fee to enter.
Here's the clue:
I am a rugby ball...
I am a rugby ball with a golden hue,
and I am hiding somewhere in Mountain View
I am shaped like an egg but in fact I am a ball, some say,
I created the greatest game of all.
I was born in England in 1823,
and have travelled the world by land and by sea.
Conquering Europe wasn't that hard,
but now I'm focused on Uncle Sam's back yard
So come and find me and claim your crown
solve my riddle, be the talk of the town.
I don't like heights so do not climb,
that behavior could land you a fine.
I am not buried beneath the ground
so do not dig in our beautiful town
My first is in TRY but not in RUCK
My second is in HOOKER but not in MUCK
My Third is in TACKLE but not in SCRUM
Half Time
My fourth is in GRUBBER but not in THUMB
My fifth is in FLANKER but not in WING
My sixth is in ADVANTAGE but not in SPRING
My Seventh is in YELLOW CARD, but not in PROP
and my last is in NUMBER EIGHT but not in DROP
Almost full time ...
If you solved the riddle to my location,
survey the Bobcats to reach your final station.
Once there, seek out the main man, he knows it all, including the secret of the golden rugby ball.
Good luck!
